In Defense of the Alt Right

During the 2016 presidential campaign, a new type of Republican burst onto the American political scene. This new Republican is almost completely disconnected with the Republican party of old. This new Republican rejects the ideas of the GOP of the last four decades – the Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan types – in favor of Republicans who aren’t beholden to special interests. The new Republican wants to be represented by his elected officials. The new Republican wants to pay less in taxes to a tyrannical federal government. The new Republican wants an honest wage, and to earn a decent living.

The new Republican believes in a strong national identity. The new Republican is prouder than ever to be an American. The new Republican wants to return to the rule of law, dictated by the Constitution. The new Republican wants to follow every law – not just the laws that are easy to enforce.

The new Republican, in a sense, is the old the Republican. In the true sense of the word, he believes in our Republic. The new Republican is an American Nationalist.

The new Republican, despite what we are being told, is NOT a Nazi.

The new Republican has been characterized by some as a member of the Alt Right. Indeed, some of the new Republicans of the current year have even characterized themselves as members of the Alt Right – a title who’s connotations perhaps aren’t fully understood by those identifying with it.

The traditional Alt Right has been associated with racism, anti-semitism, and white supremacy. Further, it has been associated with the Men’s Rights movement, anti-feminism, and homophobia. Though the traits of traditional Alt Right may include some or all of these things, and there are certain to be some bigots within Alt Right movement, even the AP – which under no circumstances has been considered to be conservative or right-leaning – recognizes that the Alt Right has no centralized ideology. It has no official definition. An official definition of Alt Right cannot be found in Webster’s Dictionary, or anywhere else, for that matter. There is no Nazi flag waving, hate-spewing, outspoken leader of the movement (though one can easily find such figures in the National Socialist Party, an official left-wing American political party). Everything that is “known” about the Alt Right has been shovel-fed to the public by the dishonest, discredited, leftist propaganda arm of the Democratic Party, otherwise known as the mainstream media, or, as of this week, “fake news.” But whatever the opinions one holds about the groups with which the Alt Right has been associated, (and yes, there is merit to anti-feminism and men’s rights), the slippery folks who are reporting the information to the public have been more than pleased to keep the public willfully ignorant regarding a nuance of the Alt Right that is critical to understanding the landscape of American politics in 2016.

On the milder side, the Alt Right is associated with populism. Most of those Republicans who characterize themselves as being part of the Alt Right, or those who are characterized by media and political elites as the Alt Right, are populists. They believe in a government ruled by the people, for the people. They are strikingly similar in nature to the new, anti-GOP, anti-Romney/Ryan type Republican described above. They are quite literally the alternative right – the alternative to the establishment Republicans of old.

This explains why so many new Republicans have willingly branded themselves as “Alt Right.” It is, of course, implausible that 60 million Americans are Nazis, supremacists, and bigots, and no sane person would willfully and knowingly associate himself Naziism. But it is understandable that the disgusting news media and political elites would fail to make a distinction between the tiny portion of the Alt Right who may be racists, and the vast majority who simply believe that they are supporting a new Republican movement. A new Republican movement that believes in Americanism. A new Republican movement that simply wants to be left alone to live a decent life.

With the mass hysteria that already exists regarding the Alt Right, the Donald Trump Presidency, and the seeming demise of the status quo in Washington, D.C., it would be wise to make this distinction known to the masses. Since the mainstream media cannot be trusted to do so, it is up to the new Republicans, to the literal alternative right, to clear the air.

The West is the most progressive society in the history of the world. Nazis have not suddenly taken control of our government. No one is in immediate danger. Luckily for the left, they have simply been duped by the media’s line-blurring definition of the Alt Right, because if there was an actual threat to their welfare, they wouldn’t know the first thing about defending themselves.

Give the Alt Right a break, and give the new Republicans the fair shot they deserve.
